Helping people move existing homes to new properties in Los Angeles County
At HouseRelocation.LA, we help people explore the possibility of moving an existing home to a new property instead of demolishing a usable structure.
Our work focuses on house relocations in Los Angeles County, with a strong emphasis on Altadena rebuilds, preservation-minded projects, and homes with strong bones and reusable value.
For many visitors, the first reaction is simple:
“I didn’t know this was possible.”
That is exactly why this website exists.
We want people to understand that relocating a house is real, possible, and, in some cases, a meaningful and realistic option for a property, a rebuild, and a family looking for another path forward.
We believe old homes still have more to give
Some houses still have life left in them.
They may not all be officially historic, but they still carry value. They may have craftsmanship, character, high-quality materials, or a presence that is difficult to recreate with new construction.
In the right situation, moving an existing home can create a powerful opportunity:
- A rebuild solution
- A creative alternative to new construction
- A second life for a house that might otherwise be demolished
- A preservation-minded way to carry beauty and character into the future
That is the kind of work we care about.
Meet Alan Pinel
I’m Alan Pinel, founder of HouseRelocation.LA.
I have been helping clients navigate the building & planning permit process since 1992, and I have been involved in house relocation projects since 2004.
Over time, my work has evolved into a focused combination of design, permit expediting, and relocation expertise.
That means I do more than just draw plans or move paperwork.
I help people understand the process, coordinate planning and building approvals, and determine whether a relocated house could be a realistic fit for their property or project.
Depending on the situation, that may include:
- Guiding permit strategy
- Coordinating planning and building approvals
- Helping evaluate whether relocation is a realistic option
- Supporting rebuild and reuse projects
- Helping connect available houses with receiving properties when the timing and fit align
In simple terms:
I help people move existing homes to new properties.
Why this work matters to me
I genuinely care about the Altadena community.
I also love helping people preserve a piece of history and repurpose it for a new chapter in their lives.
Not every home we move will be officially historic, but many still deserve a second look before demolition.
Some houses still have strong bones, real value, and the potential to serve another family for years to come.
I believe relocated homes can play a meaningful role in rebuilding Altadena with character, hope, and possibility.
And I believe that when the right house meets the right property, something special can happen.

What makes HouseRelocation.LA different
This is not a generic contractor site.
It is not a generic architecture page.
And it is not a generic permit service.
What makes HouseRelocation.LA different is the combination of:
- Real recent relocation projects in Altadena
- Relocation involvement since 2004
- Permit background since 1992
- A preservation-minded approach
- A genuine commitment to the community
This work is technical, but it is also deeply personal.
It is about helping people see a path they may not have known was possible.
It is about giving strong homes a second life.
And it is about helping families and property owners move from curiosity to clarity.
Recent Projects
One of the best ways to understand this work is to see real examples.
Recent and current projects include relocated homes connected to:
- Poppyfields Drive in Altadena
- Calaveras Street in Altadena
- La Venezia Court in Altadena
- Avenue 63 in Highland Park
- Avenue 64 in Highland Park
These projects help show what is possible when planning, permits, logistics, preservation, and vision come together.
They also reflect an important aspect of this work: house relocation is not just a theory. It is happening.
